Could this really be true
I read this report on my kindle while having my breakfast and I nearly choked. The source was the BBC news website so unfortunatly I have some trust in the facts. Gird up your loins and hold onto yourself while I summarise the article.
Apparently, if a thief makes a get a way on a motorcycle and during the police chase the culprit ditches their crash helmet, the police have to abandon the chase and let the thrieving little git go free. I guess this tactic may be taken up by lots of criminals and we'll all soon be knee deep in disguarded crash helmets.
Seriously, what sort of wet nelly thought that policy up. We must be the laughing stock of the world when it comes to justice. The thinking is that if the police chase somebody on a motorcycle, who isn't wearing an helmet, they could fall off and hurt themselves.
Surely I'm not the only person who thinks that if somebody takes what doesn't belong to them and falls off their motorbike while being chased by the police, the consequences are of their own making. If we want to build a better and decent society, perhaps we need to stack the odds in the favour of the good guys for a change.
