The Other Me, turning and burning.

Writing is like any other job, no matter how much you like it, you've got to take time out to do something else. I go fishing, tend my garden and do some drawing, but I've also developed a passion for pyrography. For those of you who have never come across the term, it just means writing with fire. Basically, I take a lump of wood and draw a picture on it with what can be best described as a soldering iron. Below is a picture that I burnt onto a piece of plywood.

More recently I have become addicted to woodturning and that is now also a great passion of mine.

If you would just like to see some more of my pyrography work just click on the image below.

To see some of my woodturning work please see below.

This is the first item I turned on my lathe, it is a lidded box turned from sapele.

Also turned from sapele, a goblet which is not bad for a beginner but a bit crude.

Trying something smaller, I turned some acorns.

Another small lidded box with some pyrography.

A pierced box with some pyrography.

More recently I have started turning pens.

If you want to take a look at the pens I have for sale you will find them in shop my shop which is called Sam's Pens. To get there just click on this Folksy logo.
